The RTP contains all the default files for RM2K. It includes all the music, sound effects, character sets etc. that you need to make a basic game. RM2K also allows you to import/export all these things as well to make custom games with your own characters, music, pictures etc. in them.

The RTP is *required* to run RM2K, all our games and most other games created on RM2K. It is a necessity! Unfortunately, it is 11.4MB, so it'll take a while to download, but please don't let that put you off. We're currently working on a partial download, so you can get it in several smaller chunks, rather than sitting there for half an hour waiting with nothing to do.
